Libyan opposition wants access to frozen funds
The international community should not content itself with supporting the struggle against the Qadhafi regime, he said
“A short time ago, we passed a message to the UN representative for Libya, to be conveyed to Security Council members, (asking) that Libya’s assets be allocated to us,” Jibril told reporters through an interpreter
Davutoglu said financial support for the opposition would figure high on the agenda of next week’s meeting in Istanbul of the International Contact Group on Libya
UN Security Council resolutions and sanctions introduced separately by the United States and the European Union against Qadhafi’s regime have restricted the movement of Libyan funds abroad
“The Libyan people are also plagued by problems of hunger, poverty and shortage of medicine and housing,” he added
